How do we ensure that libraries remain resilient, sustainable and truly open to all during a period of change and uncertainty?

In this webinar we’ll be joined by PhD student John Pateman (British Library/LKN and University of Leicester) whose current research explores the relationship between the public library and the communities it serves. John will introduce a theoretical framework of public library models, library-led, community-led, needs-led, discussing their strengths and weaknesses and inviting participants to reflect on their library context. He will share examples of best practice and insights from his experience as a library manager in the UK and Canada. Looking at practical strategies to move towards organisational change, incrementally and on a daily basis.

This session aims to show that anyone who works in public libraries can make meaningful changes at no cost. The ultimate purpose is to inspire library staff to shape their library service to be resilient, robust and representative community hubs in the face of political and other challenges.
