Seven Stories make literature accessible to all and champion reading for pleasure amongst all age groups.
They are a registered charity and Arts Council accredited museum, named after their iconic Victorian mill building’s seven floors - and because it is said that there are just seven story plots from which all tales are told. They have a valuable, growing Collection featuring some of the most influential works and artists of the last 100 years of children’s literature, including Enid Blyton, Philip Pullman, Nick Sharratt and Judith Kerr.
They provide the only exhibition space in the UK wholly dedicated to the work of children’s writers and illustrators. Bringing books to life through a creative programme of innovative exhibitions and exciting events, they invite visitors to discover the ‘stories behind the stories’ we know and love, and to feel excited and inspired to tell their own stories, in their own ways.
