What stories does your library service want to tell about your library, your team and your offer? How can we use storytelling techniques to tell those stories and enhance the visitor experience?
Creating memorable experiences for our visitors hinges on engaging communication. From day-to-day customer service interactions to curating exhibitions, running events and advocating for our library service, storytelling techniques can improve how we engage with our users.
The session will be led by George McLean from Complete Works, a visitor experience training provider, to explore how storytelling can help you tell the stories you want to tell in a way that will entertain and delight visitors. Complete Works use their theatre expertise combined with extensive experience supporting visitor service attractions across the UK to refine participants’ communication skills in interactive and enriching ways.
The session will cover -
- why stories matter in a visitor experience setting
- how can we harness the power of stories including creating a good narrative structure
- identifying your preferred ‘storytelling persona’
- practical tools, tips and techniques from the world of theatre and performance
