Interested in ways to engage audiences through food? Want to promote your book stock in imaginative ways? If yes then join us for a webinar with the Food Museum exploring the practicalities of food interpretation and food-based programming.

The Food Museum is the UK’s only museum of food. Its mission is to connect visitors with where food comes from by highlighting food as culture and giving exposure to the everyday history of the people who make and produce our food. The Museum’s main exhibition space is unique in having a kitchen at its heart, where tastings and food demos bring the collections to life. By encouraging the use of sight, smell and taste, visitors can physically connect to themes within exhibitions, while also enjoying a tasty bite or drink.

David Thomson from the Food Museum will share a menu of food tastings from the Museum’s interactive exhibitions and will cover: · the process of interpreting stories and books into tastings · how this process fits into the wider Food Museum narrative and food sourcing plan · the use of scene setting to complement food communication · practical considerations around kitchen setup, staff training and food safety standards

This session is open to anyone curious about multisensory storytelling, food interpretation and food-based audience engagement.
